Friday, February 15, 2008 Nick Lachey Hits Hot Wheels Anniversary Party
Every guy loves cars. That’s nothing new. And when Mattel asked Nick Lachey to glam up their 40th Anniversary festivities, he couldn’t say no. The “What’s Left of Me” singer showed up at the 40th Anniversary event in New York City earlier today for the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind custom jeweled 1:64-scale Hot Wheels car. Custom jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills was commissioned to create the car, in commemoration of the production of the 4 billionth Hot Wheels vehicle. According to a press release, “The diamonds on the custom-made jeweled car, valued at $140,000, total more than 2,700 and weigh nearly 23 carats in total weight. The car is cast in 18-karat white gold with the majority of the vehicle detailed with micro pave-set brilliant blue diamonds, mimicking the Hot Wheels® Spectraflame® blue paint.”
Clad in a dark suit with white shirt, Lachey hammed it up, seeming to enjoy the pomp and circumstance of the day.
