MSNBC Anchor Says No More To Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton mania was so upsetting to one American news anchor that she ripped up and attempted to burn a report about the heiress… live on the air.

The fed-up newswoman happened to be Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe. In what has turned into an instant YouTube classic, Mika repeatedly refused to run the story by taking matters into her own hands.

According to Times Online, the whole ordeal started when “Brzezinski, the 40-year-old daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, a former national security adviser to President Carter,” snubbed her superiors (or acted out on their wishes?) by refusing to read the story about Paris’ release from jail before items about the war in Iraq and the White House.

“I hate this story and I don’t think it should be our lead,” she professed.

Obviously used to getting her own way, Mika continued to wad up the script into a ball. But she didn’t stop there.

Moments later, the MSNBC anchor was politely handed a new script and, this time, she tried to burn it with a cigarette lighter. On the third attempt, Brzezinski made use of the newsroom’s shredder, further attempting to make her point.

Explaining her stance, Mika said, “I just don’t believe in covering that story, at least not as the lead story on the newscast, when we have a day like today.”

Paying no mind to the likes of Ms Brzezinski, Paris continued enjoying herself on a Hawaiian getaway. While she was spotted with friends who were sipping on wine, the “Simple Life” star intelligently decided that being photographed with alcohol wouldn’t be the best move at the present time.

How long will it take before the “reformed” socialite gets her party groove back? Soon would be our guess. But we’ll be happy if we’re proven wrong, too.
