Wednesday, January 23, 2008 Molly Sims and Gunnar Peterson: Doggie Fitness
It’s a popular topic of conversation these days… weight loss. But now there’s even pressure on household pets to get svelter in the New Year thanks to Molly Sims and Gunnar Peterson. They’ve teamed up to launch Pet Fit, an initiative to help America’s overweight pets get healthy. And it’s just in time, as the American Veterinary Medical Association has estimated that there are 54 million cats and dogs that need to drop a few pounds for their health’s sake. Peterson told press, “When I learned that a whopping 35 percent of the total pet population is either overweight or obese, I was shocked and immediately wanted to help people learn how to exercise with their pets to help fight pet obesity. My livelihood is helping celebrities achieve their fitness goals, but I also am an avid pet lover and have four dogs of my own. So, it was a natural extension for me to design a special workout program that pet owners can do with their pets to ensure they both are getting the much-needed, positive health benefits on a daily basis.”
And with Peterson’s brains and Molly Sims’ beauty, this is shaping up to be one appealing package. At the Los Angeles unveiling yesterday, both Molly and Gunnar got down and dirty with some dogs, demonstrating the various exercises.
Enjoy the pictures of Molly, along with Gunnar, at Pet-Fit (January 22).

I have a Pug (Ella), which are likely to be overweight, and I really need to make sure she is at a healthy weight and staying active. Has anyone checked to see if their vet is participating in the National Canine Weight Check this month? I actually found that Ella’s vet is registered! More than 4,000 vets are signed up, but here’s the whole list to find yours and make an appointment to get your dog weighed for good health. I’m interested in hearing what the vet says after someone takes their dog. Posted by on 02/06 at 02:37 PM
