Miss Venezuela Wins Miss Universe Competition
In the beauty pageant realm, the Miss Universe competition is the most highly regarded event of the year. And the 2008 Miss Universe victor is Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza.
Mendoza was as thrilled as she could be as her name was announced and she came forward to accept the crown from her predecessor, Riyo Mori of Japan.
As far as Miss USA, Crystle Steward of Texas, things didn’t go so well and she ended up being the second Miss USA in a row to take a tumble during the Miss Universe competition. Rachel Smith hit the floor in the 2007 event.
This year’s gala was held in Nha Trang, Vietnam and was hosted by none other than Jerry Springer and Spice Girl Melanie Brown. Talk about an odd couple!
