Thursday, June 28, 2007 Michael Moore Charms Academy With Sicko
In the last decade, filmmaker Michael Moore has come to be known as a great talent in his field, while simultaneously offending the crap out of conservative America. But his new film Sicko has found a way to please without offending.
The last time Moore was at the Academy theater, he was a bit outspoken. “It’s good to see Michael back at the Academy. They booted him off the stage at the Oscars because of what he said about Iraq and look how right he was about that,” said producer Harvey Weinstein.
At Tuesday’s premiere of Sicko, Moore received a standing ovation, more applause, and a distinct lack of hatred from the crowd. It almost looks like mainstream America has finally caught up to Moore’s social commentary. And as far as Oscar buzz goes, Moore may finally get his just desserts. Weinstein said of the Academy review of the film, that Sicko was, “the sweetest, most bipartisan, the most subtle and the best reviewed.” The film releases this Friday (6/29), so go see for yourself what all the talk is about. In the meantime, enjoy the photos from the Sicko premiere on Tuesday (June 26): From the top: Kristen Bell, Kim Kardashian, Lisa Kudrow and Nip/Tuck’s Kelly Carlson.
