Michael Jackson Visits Japan

The “King of Pop” himself, Michael Jackson, spent the past few days soaking up the limelight in Japan.  Among his stops… a military meet and greet and two civilian parties aimed at raising money for the celebrity.

The amount of time Jackson has spent abroad has been significant, especially since the 2005 molestation accusations. Much of his time has been in Bahrain, France, and Ireland, with the “King of Pop” now showing off in Japan.

The middle aged pop-star went to the land of the sumo this past Sunday, in what is his second trip in less than a year. While there, Jackson made his way to several parties, the first of which was lavish indeed.  The super-star conversed with guests at the party composed of high-end business execs paired with over 100 orphans and handicapped children.

Apparently the guests paid $3,500 dollars for dinner, a show with Michael Jackson impersonators and conversation with the pop-king himself.  He also attended a party at a nightclub where over a thousand fans gathered to get a good look at him.

It’s always nice to greet the fans, but Jackson had an even more dutiful stop during his stay in the country.  “Michael Jackson greeted 3,000 U.S. troops and their family members at a U.S. Army base south of Tokyo Saturday, taking a break from the parties.”

“Those of you in here today are some of the most special people in the world. It is because of you in here today, and others who so valiantly have given their lives to protect us, that we enjoy our freedom,” Jackson emphatically told the troops.

The salute to U.S servicemen and women is a nice surprise, coming from the icon who has had a more than turbulent past couple of years.

I think that Michael Jackson performed at the two parties as well as in camp Zama. He was performing the Speach from Charlie Chaplin in the Great Dictator: “ Soldiers! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! In the seventeenth chapter of St Luke, it is written the kingdom of God is within man not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people, have the power - the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful - to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy - let us use that power - let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world - a decent world that will give men a chance to work - that will give youth a future and old age a security.”
To support him in his last yeras and other innocent people, was the performans, that his fans did as well as the soldiers.
