Tuesday, June 19, 2007 Michael Jackson Settles Lawsuit
It seems like Michael Jackson should start renting a room at the courthouse to live in. It would save him on gas. The self-proclaimed King of Pop has settled yet another legal battle, and it looks like a favorable outcome for all.
The $48 million suit was brought against Jackson by Prescient Acquisition, a New Jersey firm. Darien Dash, the owner of the company, helped Jackson refinance a $272 million bank loan and secure $573 million in financing to buy Beatles rights from Sony.
But he never got paid. The kicker? Jackson claims he never heard of Dash and didn’t remember signing an agreement. Something’s seriously wrong with this guy. That’s a huge deal for him to conveniently forget. “The most important thing is that Michael Jackson’s publishing catalog remains safe and sound,” said Jackson’s lawyer, L. Londell McMillan. “We’re very pleased with the settlement, although the terms of it we’ve agreed to keep confidential at Mr. Jackson’s request.”
So goes another day in the legal woes of Michael Jackson. Will it ever end?
