Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez Team Up For Film
In a move that most definitely got them in touch with their Puerto Rican roots, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez costarred in “El Cantante.” The film is a biopic of salsa music pioneer Hector Lavoe.
The power couple arrived in Puerto Rico yesterday to attend the premiere. Anthony starred as Hector, while J Lo played Hector’s wife, Puchi. And the film was no easy (or short) task… it took over five years to complete.
The real test, according to Cuban director Leon Ichaso will occur when native Puerto Ricans see the film. “It’s tied to a Puerto Rican hero and Puerto Rican music,” Ichaso said. “Everyone will scrutinize whether it was done well or badly, whether we made a mistake here or there.”
There’s no word yet as to a domestic release for the film. But you can be sure that if J Lo and Marc Anthony have anything to do with it, “El Cantante” will be gracing American screens before long.
