Wednesday, June 20, 2007 Mandy Moore’s Wild Hope
It’s really hard for teeny-bopper singers to be taken seriously. Take Hanson for instance… great songwriting, but they’ll never eclipse their MMMBop days. That’s why it’s so cool that Mandy Moore has traded her “Candy” image for a mature singer/songwriter motif.
Her new album, “Wild Hope” is a giant step forward. She gave the music world a hint at where she was going with her last album, 2003’s “Coverage” which showed a more mature Moore paying homage to songs of yesteryear.
But now Mandy has struck out on her own, writing the majority of the material on her new disc. She’s more authentic than ever. And the instrumentation reeks of studio legends and cool collaborators like Chantal Kreviazuk, Rachael Yamagata, the Weepies and others.
“I feel like so much time has passed, in my mind I approached this record as like a clean slate. Because I haven’t had too, too much musical success before, it allowed me the creative freedom to like sort of do whatever I wanted to do without people questioning it,” Mandy recently told press.
As with any release, Mandy has been busy fulfilling her promotional duties. Enjoy the pictures of Mandy’s hectic Manhattan Tuesday (June 19).
