Monday, March 30, 2009 Madonna’s Latest Adoption is Delayed
She has been pulling out all the stops to adopt a Malawian girl named Mercy James, and this morning Madonna appeared in a Malawian court to learn that the process has been put on hold. The “Like a Virgin” songstress will not be able to discuss her adoption application until this coming Friday, as the court has adjourned until then. Mercy is a four-year-old girl whose 18-year-old mother recently passed away, leaving her in the care of an orphanage. And Madonna hopes to bring her home to live with her family, including 3-year-old Malawi native David Banda. Madge told press, “Many people - especially our Malawian friends - say that David should have a Malawian brother or sister. It’s something I have been considering but would only do if I had the support of the Malawian people and the government.” Enjoy the pictures of Madonna and Lourdes on their trip to Malawi (March 29-30).
