Kristin Davis Talks Alcoholism

As the “Sex and the City: The Movie” countdown carries on, the eager anticipation of SATC fans is compounded daily. And yesterday Kristin Davis stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman as part of the promotional trail.

Looking fine in a conservative-yet-sexy purple floral print dress, Davis schmoozed with fans outside the Ed Sullivan Theatre as she made her way inside to tape her interview.

And while her SATC character is known for knocking back a few cocktails from time to time, Kristin says that in real life she stays dry, on account of her past.

She told press, “I’m a recovering alcoholic. I’ve never hidden it, but I’ve been sober the whole time I’ve been famous, so it wasn’t like I had to go to rehab publicly.”

Davis continued, “I believe [alcoholism] is a disease. I don’t think you can mess with it. [People would ask me] ‘Couldn’t you just have one glass of champagne?’ And I would say, ‘No.’ I’m doing well. I still have occasional bad days. Why risk it?”
