Kristi Yamaguchi Wins Dancing With the Stars
With her Olympic Gold Medal background in figure skating, you could say that Kristi Yamaguchi is familiar with high-pressure situations. And last night she defied the odds to come out on top once again.
As the first woman to win the Dancing With the Stars finals since first season’s Kelly Monaco, Yamaguchi proved that girls can bring their A-game just as much as guys. She told press, “I love it! I guess ‘k’ is a good initial to have.”
And it was much more than just a matter of luck- Kristi and partner Mark Ballas scored a perfect 90 out of 90 from the judges, as well as taking the lion’s share of the viewer vote.
Prior to the finale, Yamaguchi told press, “I want to defy the odds. I’m going to go for it. We need some girl power out there.” And with her assorted goodie bag of crowd-and-judge-pleasing antics, she got the job done.
