Kirsten Dunst’s “Spider-Man 3” Birthday
Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire have been on a whirlwind tour, continent hopping to promote the widely anticipated release of ’Spider-Man 3‘. Now back in the States, the movie made its US premiere in Astoria, Queens on Monday night during the Tribeca Film Festival.
Dunst and Maguire, along with James Franco, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard and Thomas Haden Church, first stopped by The Today Show on Monday morning to promote their latest superhero flick. From there, the crew made their way to the Tribeca Film Festival screening.
The ShowBuzz reports that “crazed ‘Spider-Man’ fans spanned three blocks and a marching band made their way down the carpet before the stars’ arrivals. The crowd welcomed Dunst to Queens by singing her Happy Birthday.”
After the screening and a change of clothes, Kirsten went out on the town to celebrate her 25th birthday with some friends. Dunst has had her run-ins with the paparazzi in the past, and appeared less-than-happy to have them present for her birthday festivities.
Nonetheless, the high level of publicity appears to be paying off. According to Today, advance ticket sales for Spider-Man 3 are running three to four times higher than sales for Spider-Man 2, which opened in 2004. So… if you plan on going to the opening on May 4, you’d better get tickets now!
