Kevin Costner Rocks His Way Into Court

For most reading this article, the mere fact that Kevin Costner has his own band retains shock value in itself.  There probably was good reason as to why the existence of such a band never hit the front pages, but leave it to a classic, public lawsuit to launch the 15 minute music career of a Hollywood relic.

Costner, 52, filed the lawsuit Tuesday, accusing Mahee Worldwide Ventures Inc. of breach of contract and fraud. In all, Kevin is seeking damages in excess of $8.5 million.  Costner is the lead singer in the Kevin Costner Band, for which he also writes songs. The band is managed by one of Costner’s companies, Kevin’s Music LLC, which he controls the majority of.

The lawsuit claims Costner’s company and the promoter entered into a two-year agreement in January (2007) that would allow the actor’s band to perform in as many as five concerts a year. Mahee also would create and maintain a website marketing Costner’s band, according to the lawsuit.

This is where the lawsuit claims that Mahee violated the contract.  “Instead of following through on their promises, defendants continued to make false promises and ultimately disappeared,” the lawsuit said.

The Gossip Girls tried to contact Mahee for a comment via email, and no response was immediately returned.
