Keira Knightley Grows Up
When you start working in Hollywood at a young age, sometimes it’s hard to break out of the cute/innocent mold. And although Keira Knightley may be pigeonholed as a good girl right now, according to her, that’s about to change.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actress says that she’s breaking out of her goodie-goodie past and getting more “grown up” in her new film “Atonement.” She stars in the picture with James McAvoy.
The movie is based on the Ian McEwan novel in which Keira’s character, Cecilia, falls in love with doctor Robbie (McAvoy). And the passion heats up when Robbie writes a naughty letter to Cecilia and they end up taking a roll in the hay.
Knightley explains that she feels like her new role is a little more relatable. “She’s a grown-up and she does grown-up things. I was 17 when I started playing Elizabeth in the Pirate films and they were fun, but very much meant for families. Now I’ve grown up and so have the roles.”
