Keira Knightley Becomes Coco Chanel

While her latest film Atonement is getting all kinds of pre-release buzz, Keira Knightley already has her sights set on a new project… playing Coco Chanel in a filmography of the designer.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has also signed a modeling contract with Chanel to replace Kate Moss as the brand’s face.  She will be paid $1 million for three years.

The Domino hottie says she was impressed by Coco’s determination and perseverance in pursuing her dreams. “It sounds like a good story, one of survival against all odds.  Coco came from nothing and built one of the biggest fashion houses in the world.”

And Knightley draws inspiration from Chanel.  “The fact that she was a woman, survived the Second World War and that she was all about style, as opposed to fashion, is interesting.”
