Katherine Heigl Wins Emmy For ‘Best Supporting Actress’

Grey’s Anatomy received ten nominations for the Emmy’s this year, and nothing was more heavily contested than Best Supporting Actress.  Three stars from Grey’s (Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, and Chandra Wilson) were nominated for the category, and judging their reactions, it truly was a surprise.

In the end, it was the ‘Knocked Up’ star, Katherine Heigl, who stole the honors for her reprisal of the role of Isobel ‘Izzie’ Stevens.  Heigl looked absolutely stunning in a white gown as she accepted her Emmy for Best Supporting Actress.

Heigl has been in the headlines lately for her engagement to musician Josh Kelly, and the recent box office success of ‘Knocked Up’.  There is little doubt that all of this pre-award press gave an advantage to the media darling.

Both Grey’s Anatomy and Katherine Heigl were big winners at the Emmys this year, and their futures look even brighter.  Heigl has really come out of her shell in the past six months, and passed Ellen Pompeo as Grey’s most searched female.
