Katherine Heigl Hops Into the Emmy Race
She’s made quite a name for herself on primetime television and it sounds like Katherine Heigl may be ready to accept her nomination for this year’s Emmy Awards.
Last year, the “Grey’s Anatomy” actress famously withdrew her own name from the awards show amidst rumors that she was upset about not having enough material with which to compete, sparking alleged tensions between her and the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes.
Whether in attempt to smooth things over—or because her character’s recent story development about a brain tumor has allowed for a heavier role—the 30-year-old has decided she’s ready to enter the annual TV awards.
Whatever tension there might have been, Rhimes only had good things to say following the “Grey’s” season finale last Thursday. “I think she did beautiful work,” Rhimes said. “I think she always does beautiful work.”
This year’s nominations will be announced July 16th with the award show following in mid-September.
