Katharine McPhee’s Last Caller
There’s life after American Idol. Even if you’re the runner up. Katharine McPhee is proving it by embarking on a new film career. She’s set to take on a starring role in the indie film The Last Caller.
“This is the first thing that I read that I really wanted to do,” McPhee told press. “I’m up for a couple of big studio projects, but they weren’t starring roles. I wanted to start off doing something a little different. It’s something that a lot of people wouldn’t expect me doing.”
McPhee will star in the film as a self-obsessed woman seeking love and affirmation from random encounters with other seekers. Her character in the film is reportedly much darker than Katharine, and that’s why she likes her.
However, it won’t be the first acting gig for McPhee, who had a part alongside Ali Larter and Lane Garrison in the 2005 film “Crazy,” the story of guitar player Hank Garland who emerged from Nashville in the 1950’s.
The Last Caller is set to begin filming this fall in New York City.
