Kate Beckinsale Wins Damages Over Phony Story

Finally seeing the truth come forth, Kate Beckinsale won about $32,000 in compensation and an apology from a U.K. tabloid that finally admitted to phony claims that she was fired from a remake of the Jana Fonda movie “Barbarella”.

According to breaking reports, the Daily Express admitted that it was a fictional story that caused the 35-year-old huge embarrassment.

The tabloid mention she was “facing heartbreak” after Rose McGowan received the part instead of her and that her career “was in decline.”

The report was published on the Web site and also said that Roger Vadim’s new version of a sci-fi movie was “expected to be a big commercial hit, so it will be a real blow to Kate.”

Beckinsale’s camp reported in papers that she was never involved in “Barbarella”.

“This article wrongly gave the impression that the claimant’s career is in decline, which would undoubtedly have a knock-on effect on those who would be casting film roles, as well as the industry as a whole,” her lawyer, Graham Atkins, told the court.

Beckinsale was not at the settlement hearing, but the tabloid’s parent company, Express Newspapers, agreed to clean up the damages and pay legal fees.

Meanwhile, the sexy Beckinsale will be in theaters this fall in a crime movie called, “Whiteout”. Soon after she will be joining Robert De Niro in the comedy drama “Everybody’s Fine”.
