Johnny Depp’s “Sweeney Todd” Hits Paris

It’s becoming a worldwide sensation. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street made its latest stop in Paris, France, to the delight of hundreds of fans.

And Sweeney star Johnny Depp was accompanied by pal/director Tim Burton as he made his way down the Champs Ellysee in the center of the City of Lights.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor told press that his recent Golden Globe win for his performance in Sweeney was unexpected. “Uh, I was at my home. I was very surprised, certainly moved, flattered, honored. They nominated me about 17 years ago. It was the first time.”

And Burton actually didn’t find out that Sweeney won Best Picture - Musical or Comedy until the following morning. “Well, I was in London and I was asleep. So, I read about it in the newspaper the next day because nobody has my phone number so I was not really aware of it until the next morning.”
