Joel Madden Smokes Out Heroin Temptations
Thank goodness for cigarettes! Joel Madden, Good Charlotte’s frontman and boyfriend of Nicole Richie, recently stated that he relies on the nicotine sticks to satisfy his craving for heroin, a painfully addictive Class A drug.
In an interview with Blender magazine, Joel said: “Without cigarettes, I would be doing heroin, probably on a daily basis.”
Nicole has had her battles with heroin addiction as well, entering rehab as a teen after she was charged with possession of the drug in February 2003.
Meanwhile, Richie’s currently facing a DUI charge after being stopped by police for driving on the wrong side of a California highway after leaving Joel’s house. The DUI wasn’t for alcohol, either, as Nicole told police at the scene she had smoked marijuana and taken the painkiller Vicodin. Even so, she’s decided to plead not guilty.
“The Simple Life” star is due in court next month and faces jail if convicted, but did seem to be enjoying herself last night at Australia’s Video Music Awards.

ya know, i used to be totaly in love with benji madden, then i found out he smokes...yuck. then i thought, hey joel isn’t too bad. but this story pretty much changes my mind completely. if cigarretts are keeping him from doing heroin, he’s not the role model i want to have. sucky!!
