Is Matt Damon’s Bourne Better Than James Bond?
With the onset of the latest installment in the Bourne franchise, Matt Damon is doing some big talking about how his character Jason Bourne stacks up against another famous JB… James Bond.
Damon says that Bourne is a safer bet when it comes to motives. He’s, “an imperialist and he’s a misogynist. He kills people and laughs and sips martinis and wisecracks about it.” Meanwhile Jason Bourne is more realistic and hence more exciting.
"Bourne is this paranoid guy. He’s on the run. The government is after him. He’s a serial monogamist who’s in love with his dead girlfriend and can’t stop thinking about her,” Damon said. “He’s the opposite of James Bond.”
And while James Bond has been evolving over the years, the latest attempts to reinvent the character have failed, according to Damon. It looks like you’ll have to get out to theaters Aug 3rd and see for yourself, unless you were lucky enough to attend last night’s premiere!
