Critic’s Choice Awards Airs Tonight
We’re in the thick of Awards Show Season, and the next big gig to hit the airwaves is the Critic’s Choice Awards, scheduled to air tonight (January 8) at 8pm EST on VH1.
The Broadcast Film Critics Association will be handing out all sorts of awards tonight for everything from Best Director to Best Picture and everything in between.
Both “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “Milk” are up for eight awards, and “Doubt,” “Slumdog Millionaire,” and “The Dark Knight” all have six nods.
And it’s sure to be a star-studded affair with presenters such as Kate Beckinsale, Josh Brolin, Marissa Tomei, Dustin Hoffman, Kristen Bell, Elizabeth Banks, Ben Stiller, and Eva Longoria.

Paris Hilton’s Night Away from her BFF
Well it looks like becoming Paris Hilton’s BFF was enough for Brittany Flickinger to become a celebrity in her own right. And last night the paparazzi were on her trail despite Paris’ absence.
Miss Flickinger opted for a night out solo and headed over to the Stone Rose lounge in West Hollywood, looking cool and casual in a grey top with a black and grey scarf, slim fit jeans, and brown leather boots.
Meanwhile, Paris was all about having a good time on her own last night as well, and she donned a floaty white dress and hit the town.
And of course, Miss Hilton’s engagement was a bit more exclusive than that of her BFF- she attended a private party at the Crown Bar in West Hollywood.

Kate Winslet: Manhattan Chic
She’s always turning heads with her amazing sense of style, and this morning (January 8) Kate Winslet definitely didn’t disappoint as she left her New York City apartment.
The “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” actress looked super-chic as she stepped out in an all-black ensemble including a pair of uber-stylish high heels.
And with the Academy Awards coming up next month, Kate isn’t being bashful about her intense desire to win an Oscar. After all, she’s been nominated five times without a win.
She told press, “I want to win, I’m not denying that. I don’t want to be sitting there with a fixed grin on my face while someone else wins. But we all do that, don’t we?”

Taylor Lautner Signs on for “New Moon”
With the amazing success of last year’s “Twilight,” the sequel “New Moon” is already one of the most hotly anticipated films of 2009. And Taylor Lautner recently announced that he’s on board for the sequel.
Author Stephenie Meyer posted on her website, “I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.”
She added, “I’m truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I’m very much looking forward to seeing what he’s going to bring to Jacob’s character this year.”
There was initial pessimism about Taylor returning as Jacob Black in the sequel because his character is totally different- Black is a foot taller and 25 years old in “New Moon,” but Taylor is apparently up to the challenge.

Kid Rock and Kate Hudson: People’s Choice Pair
Any time a bunch of celebrities get together, there’s always fun to be had. And at last night’s People’s Choice Awards, Kate Hudson and Kid Rock had a blast posing together.
The “I am the Bullgod” singer joined the “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” actress backstage for a portrait session that’s just as fun to look at as it was to shoot.
In the pics, Rock wields his PCA in one hand and a lit cigar in the other while donning a brown leather vest, aviator sunglasses, and a massive cowboy hat. On the other side of the spectrum, Miss Hudson looks elegant in a one-shoulder blue printed silk dress with a wispy blonde hairdo.
Both Kid and Kate walked away from last night’s festivities as winners- Rock won Best Rock Song for “All Summer Long,” while Kate was named Best Leading Lady.

Amy Winehouse: Back Out with Her Beach Beau
She’s been enjoying her Caribbean holiday for quite some time, and Amy Winehouse isn’t showing any signs of leaving St. Lucia anytime soon. Then again, with the gorgeous weather and a hot hunk of a male companion in Joshua Bowman, what’s not to love?
The troubled “Rehab” songstress was spotted sunning herself on the beach yesterday along with her gentleman caller, sporting a red Nike sports bra and a pair of short shorts.
As for her drug drama in Norway, stemming from an arrest for marijuana posession back in October 2007, it seems Amy has decided to drop her appeal.
Her lawyer told press that she decided to accept the fine and conviction despite the fact that she claimed the police had made some serious errors in the case.

Christian Bale Dedicates Award to Heath Ledger
It’s no secret that “The Dark Knight” was one of the most amazing movie sensations in recent history. And at last night’s People’s Choice Awards, Christian Bale was in the house to accept plenty of awards for the flick.
The “Machinist” actor donned a swanky black pinstriped suit and tie as he meandered around the Shrine Auditorium, looking almost bittersweet that his co-star Heath Ledger couldn’t be there with him to bask in the glory of the evening.
And as he accepted an award, Christian graciously spoke, “On behalf of all of the cast from the movie, thank you very much to the fans. Here’s to Heath.”
“The Dark Knight” went five for five, winning every award it was up for, including Favorite Onscreen Match-Up (Bale and Ledger), Favorite Superhero, Favorite Cast, Favorite Action Movie, and Favorite Movie.

Cristiano Ronaldo Crashes His Ferrari
It hasn’t been that long since he was on the injured list, and Cristiano Ronaldo narrowly escaped landing on the sidelines again when he crashed his Ferrari this morning (January 8).
The Manchester United soccer stud reportedly wrecked his swanky sports car in a tunnel near Manchester Airport around 10:20am local time while on his way to practice with his team.
According to the Greater Manchester Police, “Officers attended and discovered a Ferrari had collided with a barrier. No one is believed to have been injured.”
And while Cristiano walked away from the crash unharmed, his car wasn’t so lucky. Onlookers described it as a mangled wreck, with one witness telling press, “It’s amazing he was okay because his car looked so bad!”

Gerard Butler Amtraks it to Philadelphia
Given his overwhelming success, it’s no wonder Gerard Butler can’t go anywhere without being recognized. And last night he was spotted arriving in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The “P.S. I Love You” stud arrived at the Philly Amtrak station to find a host of fans and paparazzi waiting for him. And like a good sport, Mr. Butler graciously signed autographs and posed for pictures before moving on.
Gerard is in town to begin filming his latest project, a movie called “Law Abiding Citizen” about an everyday guy who decides to take justice into his own hands after a plea bargain sets his family’s killers free.
Earlier this month, the “300” hunk was living it up on the beach during his holiday in Miami, Florida, though it doesn’t look like he got much of a tan!

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden: Dinner Date Night
Taking some time for just the two of them, Joel Madden and Nicole Richie hired a babysitter and headed out to West Hollywood for a romantic dinner date last night (January 7).
The Good Charlotte rocker and his “Simple Life” babymama opted for Italian fare at the Osteria Mozza restaurant, with Joel doing his best to shield his sans makeup gal from the paparazzi.
And it looks like the rumors of Nicole paying a visit to the set of “Gossip Girl” have turned out to be false after all.
Richie’s rep revealed that a CW cameo isn’t in the works, and that the reports are “not true.” Instead, she’ll be focusing on her House of Harlow jewelry line for the time being.
