Hilary Duff and Avril Lavigne Like Each Other
Despite constant reports of tension between the two, a feud between Hilary Duff and Avril Lavigne is nothing but talk, according to Miss Duff herself. The two are expected to run into one another at tonight’s Much Music Video Awards.
According to Nova Scotia News, “Duff says the multitude of tabloid reports detailing tantrums and tirades between the pair are complete fiction, insisting the chart rivals are nothing but friendly to each other.”
"We’ve had dinners together and I’ve been over to her house, she’s a nice girl,” Duff said of Lavigne, adding, “I don’t understand why people are putting us against each other. . . . There’s nothing going on between us.”
The reason that the two were pitted against one another stems from an incident in which Duff laid into Lavigne for “criticizing fans that mimic her tie-and-tank-top look.” Lavigne responded by calling Duff a “mommy’s girl” and telling her to “screw herself.”
More recently, there were wide reports of drama between the two at a Maxim party in New York - with a complication in arrival times causing an unwanted run-in. Lavigne was said to be furious, pacing around and pressuring her company to leave.
Duff, however, says there’s no truth to that supposed clash, adding she’s looking forward to enjoying the MuchMusic gala.
We’ll see what happens tonight, which should provide a little insight into whether or not Avril feels the same as Hilary.
In the meantime, enjoy the pictures of Avril out with her husband on Thursday (June 14), as well as Hilary at a Normandie Elementary school fundraiser the previous day (June 13).
