Thursday, March 15, 2007 Guiding Light Dominates Emmy Nominations
CBS dominated the nominations for the daytime Emmy’s this year. Not only were they the most nominated network with fifty seven, the broadcaster did especially well in the drama category.
CBS’s soap opera’s, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Guiding Light, along with ABC’s One Life To Live, were the four nominees up for the coveted best drama category. Although CBS won three of the four spots, the show Guiding Light truly cleaned up with a total of seventeen nominations.
It is no surprise at the show’s success, as it is the “longest running drama ever. Guiding Light has entertained radio and television fans for 70 years. The show also received recognition recently for “airing its 15,000th televised episode last September.” Former winner for best actress Kim Zimmer, and co-star Crystal Chappell are just a names among the slew of CBS nominees.
Guiding Light may not win them all, but there is good reason to believe that the show will do well, beyond just the nominations.
