George and Renee Premiere Leatherheads in London

Hollywood stars George Clooney and Renee Zellweger attended the red carpet London premiere of their new film, Leatherheads, on Tuesday (April 8).

Clooney directed and stars in the film, which is set in the world of 1920’s American football. Zellweger plays a news reporter caught in a love triangle with Clooney’s football hero character.

Of playing an American footballer, Clooney told press: “I was getting smacked around the football field by a bunch of guys much younger than me. I lost a lot of weight and all the tabloids were like, ‘cancer scare!’?”

Meanwhile, George hopes his film finds more success abroad than it did in the States. Leatherheads opened at the number three spot at the North American box office chart, despite initial figures placing it at number two.

Reports tell that “the sports comedy had been expected to knock 21 off the top slot, but only made $12.7m - $2.6m less than the Kate Bosworth/Kevin Spacey gambling film.”
