Tuesday, June 05, 2007 Directing Is Next For Kirsten Dunst
After awhile, many actors and actresses get an itch for directing. For Kirsten Dunst, that itch is being scratched by Glamour magazine’s “Reel Moments” series, based on letters sent in by readers.
Kirsten will join fellow actresses Jennifer Aniston and Robin Wright Penn, who have also participated in making short films for the project. And Dunst is brimming with excitement over her directorial debut.
"I’m directing my first short this summer. It’s a ghost story. They’re totally giving me carte blanche. I pick the letter. I write my script. I pick everyone I want to collaborate with, it’s great,” she told press. “I’ve always been a fan of Roman Polanski and, you know, ‘Repulsion’ with Catherine Deneuve and ‘Rosemary’s Baby’. We just don’t make movies like that any more,” she said. The Spiderman actress hopes that she can begin to contribute to fine filmmaking and that this project is the first step in that direction. Currently on the other side of the camera, Dunst is on the set of her new film, “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.” Enjoy the photos of Kirsten on the set yesterday (June 4)!
