Friday, March 23, 2007 DiCaprio and Winslet’s Revolutionary Road
The two actors who made a record shattering movie are at it again. Ten years after their original roles in Titanic, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio will star in the new drama Revolutionary Road together.
Since Titanic’s release in 1997, it has remained the all-time most profitable film, totaling 1.8 billion dollars. Studios and viewers alike would be thrilled to get the legendary cast reunited, and it seems DreamWorks’s has made it happen.
The brilliant casting is coupled with director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Jarhead), who happens to be Kate’s Oscar winning better half. According to the Daily Variety, Richard Yates’s book Revolutionary Road “is a story about a 1950’s suburban couple tragically caught between their rebellious real passions and the pressure to conform.” The film’s plot seems appropriate for Mendes’s dramatic style, which often is often dark, but revealing. In addition, DiCaprio and Winslet have made it quite clear that they are well qualified to play demanding dramatic roles. The monumental casting will be a significant driving force in getting fans out of their homes and into theatres. Revolutionary Road is set to come out in 2009.
