Cindy Crawford’s Blackmailer: In Police Custody
Ending a short time on the lam, Cindy Crawford’s blackmailer has turned himself in.
Former male model Edis “Eddie” Kayalar attempted to blackmail the supermodel for $100,000 after getting a private photograph containing Crawford and husband Rande Gerber’s then-7-year-old daughter tied to a chair in revealing clothing, taken by her nanny during a game of cops and robbers.
Kayalar tried to use the photo so the celebrity couple would pay, or else he threatened to release it to the media.
,p>Kalayar was charged last week with a count of extortion despite already having been deported to Germany, where he allegedly went on to blackmail the couple.
On Monday, he went to Stuttgart police station and surrendered himself.
“Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter,” a statement from the couple’s representative said.
Crawford, 43, and Gerber, 47, have been married since 1998. Besides their daughter, who is now 8, they also have a son, 10.
