Christian Bale Gets Back to the Red Carpet

Fresh off his recent arrest for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister, Batman star Christian Bale swept into Barcelona to attend a Spanish premiere of “The Dark Knight” on Wednesday evening (July 23).

Joined by his wife Sibi and co-stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart, Bale chose not to speak to reporters during his time on the red carpet and made no comment about the Dorchester Hotel arrest incident.

According to press on-hand at the event, the 34-year-old star greeted hundreds of fans lined up along the red carpet outside the Mediterranean city’s Coliseum Theater and spent a half hour signing autographs before entering the cinema. The Welsh-born actor even asked each autograph seeker’s name before signing.

Now raking in over $200 million in just five days (a new movie record), Warner Bros. representative Gernot Dudda told the AP: “We expected some excitement but have truly been taken aback by all the media attention.”
