Chocolate Rain Makes Jimmy Kimmel Premiere

If you’re internet savvy at all, you’re hip to the YouTube site.  And one video has really stood out among its peers.  It’s called “Chocolate Rain.”

The composer of the silly song is named Tay Zonday, and he’s garnered quite a bit of attention for his gibberish stylings.  He told late night host Jimmy Kimmel, “You just put something silly on YouTube and it gets lot of attention.”

Well, that’s an understatement if there’s ever been one.  Zonday’s nonsensical ballad has received over 4.3 million viewers since he posted it.  And Jimmy Kimmel isn’t the only celeb taking notice.

John Mayer of all people has come up with a cover of “Chocolate Rain” seen on VH1’s best week ever recently.  Also, Green Day’s Tre Cool paid tribute to the wacky internet anthem.  But Zonday hasn’t been able to fully appreciate his influence.  “I wish I had more time to watch other covers,” he told Kimmel.

Jimmy poked back at Zonday, “Do me a favor. Carve a little time out of whatever’s going on in your schedule and take a look at it.” When you’re that popular for something so stupid, you gotta take what you can get.

Enjoy the “Chocolate Rain” video!
