Tuesday, April 17, 2007 Carrie Underwood Sizzles At CMTA’s
Former “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood took home two big buckles at the 2007 Country Music Television Awards held Monday night (April 16th). Other big winners included Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts. Underwood, a country sweetheart, won the coveted “CMT Music Awards Video of the Year” and “Female Video of the Year” for her hit single “Before He Cheats.” Meanwhile, county music superstar Kenny Chesney won the “Male Video of the Year” award for his hit “You Save Me,” and Rascal Flatts took home the “Group Video Award” for “What Hurts the Most.” The wins on Monday night further signified Underwood’s growing status in the country music scene. Being an “Idol” winner, there were some in the country business who questioned her potential. These questions keep getting answered, as Underwood also won the Female Vocalist of the Year award and the Horizon award at the Country Music Association event in 2006.
