If she is 16 and pregnant, why isn’t this 19 year old father in jail for statutory rape?

He’s not up on charges because.. Well, OMG IT’S JAMIE LYNN SPEARS.  Why on earth would there be consequences for a celebrity? I mean, WHAT are people thinking? They don’t have consequences, they’re FAMOUS, they can do what they want.

It’s quite disgusting really.  If my 16 year old got pregnant by a 19 year old, he wouldn’t have to worry about the cops and legal charges.....

If it were my 16 year old, they wouldn’t have dated in the first place. And,the present situation?  He wouldn’t have to worry about legalities.. He’d have to hope me or her dad didn’t find him before he got arrested!

I dont know about Cal. laws but in ohio the legal age to consent to sex is 15 unless 1 mile from school property.  and she is a celebrity.

I feel sorry for her all she had to look up to was her wench of a sister.  There is a ten-year difference in age, but she wants to do, and have everything her sister has.  Their parents have fail both of them, and Jamie Lynn’s boyfriend 19 year-old Casey Aldridge, should be in jail crying.  He should be labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life.  Why do the people who let their kids watch and look up to this girl not want this sick bastard off the streets.  This is a relationship that should have never started.  SHE WILL GO DOWN A DARK ROAD JUST LIKE HER SISTER.

i don’t know about down in the states but here, the legal age is 14. Anything 14 and above is ‘fair game’ I guess you would call it.

As for everyone ranting and raving that ‘it wouldn’t be my child!!’ PLEASE. For all you know it could be and she already aborted it. at least Jamie Lynn Spears can afford this, if not she can always move in with her sister, and see how that pans out.

I am not saying I support this and am ‘rooting’ for her, I am jsut saying there are ten thousand worse cases.

Listen Pebz, in “the states” it is considered statutory rape if the person is under 18. I don’t know where you are from but if you consider anyone older than 14 “fair game” then I don’t ever want to bring my children to your perverted country. I don’t care that your parents are 12 years apart but whether you are 19 or 99, if you sleep with someone under 18, you are breaking the law.

The cops can not do anything unless her parents press charges against Casey Aldridge. What does it matter if she is a celebrity or not? In the United States teenage girls are getting pregnant all the time. So people should not judge others cause they are not GOD to judge. There are parents out there that don’t even know what their children are doing half time. So what people make mistake or two in there life time so you learn from them. I’m not saying I support this but it’s happening everywhere. So don’t act surprised about the news. Why does everyone think they know Britney and Jamie situation if they don’t even live with them to past judgment. People only know what’s being reported.

My girlfriend and I are 3 years apart and that makes NO DIFFERENCE, but we have not had a baby yet or even any scares. When I found this out I was just extremely frustrated. I don’t know Brittney or Jamie, nor do I care to know either of them. I just finished saying about a month ago that Jamie was so pretty and that I hope for her sake she didn’t follow in her sister’s footsteps. Now it looks like she is going that way. Someone needs to be a mother and father to this girl. She NEEDS guidance and discipline because if not she will end up just like Brittney! I hope she does have this baby and then I hope she takes care of it as well. I also hope that someone is telling her that this is NOT the end of her life or career because it’s NOT! She can definitely take care of this baby well, but I hope that it is HER that takes care of this baby and not some nanny or bodyguard.. This baby needs a mom and a dad, not a whole bunch of different people in its life.

I have a 16 yr old sister in law (*now 17), she was dating a 19 yr old guy. I fought with her constantly over it, because what would a 19 yr old college guy want with a 16 yr old HS girl… how about a piece of *ss… she eventually broke it off with him and thankfully she was smart enough not to get knocked up.

Bottom line, if you’re in Highschool you should date people in highschool. I don’t think Casey deserves to go to jail, i’m just not that oppressive. But if it was my daughter… I’d have broke both his knees and cut off his face.

Oh and regarding the Spears sisters, tramps, drug addicts, trash. To bad they’re in the news. It appears as though their daddy didn’t love them enough.

In CA it is illegal but people only go to jail if the underaged partner or their parents presses charges...also, i know they have been dating for a long time so if they were dating before he turned 18 its legal

I believe most states the age of consent is 16, but cali it is 18 for some strange reason.  But no one is going to get prosecuted if the kids doing the deed are both teens. if the girl is 16 and the guy 40.... he will see what life is like in an 8 by 8 cell.  if the girl is 40 and the guy 16, the girl will get probation for 1 year.... and the guy will spend the next year bragging that he banged someones mom.  that’s just reality.  In my opinion, i think the age of consent should be 16, but there should be some kind of max age stipulation such that if the guy is more than 5 years older, it’s illegal.  this should hold until 18, after which anything goes.  In Speers case, she can always argue that she got pregnant while they were in vegas for the afternoon or something (where 16 is the legal age).  who could challenge that? most cali teens do it at 16 anyway.  also, if both cali kids are 16 and they do it, is it mutual statutory rape?

OK people shut up. 3 year age difference. Statuatory rape laws should protect LITTLE girls from making bad decisions or being taken advantage of. They are meant to protect the 13 years old from getting pressure into having sex with a 21 yr old or something. People take it too damn far. Yeah, the Spears are obviously not great parents. But each situation is different and I am sure its a really nice young man. They met at church for Christ’s sake! Would you want to send your grandchild’s father away to jail and label him as a sex offender forever? He’s a kid too and that would just screw up the baby even worse in the long run.

ok now, lets be real! Teens are having sex these days, its not a secret--they just are. Now when it comes to celebrity teens OF COURSE THEY ARE HAVING SEX!! celebrities have more money and access to things that regular teens do, they also have more access to privacy and people to keep secrets for them. Reportedly an article says that Jamie was shocked but come on!! Do you really think she was shocked, its not like it was the first time it had happened, and if anything she was shocked because she had probaly had sex so many times with out becoming pregnant and then WAM! she gets pregnant. I do think she could be putting herself in a bad position like Britney and if Britney is telling her she shouldnt move out; SHE SHOULD REALLY LISTEN because her sis has been through rough sh*t.

Keep in mind in most states 16 is the legal age for consent! Unless she AGREES to press charges on him there is nothing anyone can do about it.

DirrtyDirrty clearly doesn’t know the laws. Because 16 is legal in a LOT of states. PARENTS CANT PRESS CHARGES unless the 16 year old agrees. It’s 15 and 14 in some states as well.
Like 3 years is a HUGE gap anyways. And yes she’s 16 and in High School, but she’s not a normal 16 year old. She’s a fucking rich famous homeschooled one.

Last year in Georgia a 17 year old boy was sentenced to 10 years in jail for oral sex with a 15 year old. I don’t agree with this sentence as they were both minors and the boy was eventually ordered free after much debate but isn’t sex between a 19 yo and a 16 yo worse? He’s an adult and she is a minor. I think it deserves a punishment. I don’t care if her mom was OK with it.
