Britney Spears Pulls Out of Virgin Mary Role

Before her massive stage comeback at Madonna’s Los Angeles concert last night, Britney Spears spent her afternoon shopping and enjoying the beautiful weather.

The “Gimme More” babe was spotted strolling down Ventura Boulevard accompanied by her security, stopping into Old Navy and Banana Republic before heading home and prepping for her big night at Dodgers Stadium.

As for the rumors that Brit Brit would star as the Virgin Mary in the upcoming film “Sweet Baby Jesus,” it seems both sides have decided to pull the plug.

According to FOX Pop Tarts’ Hollie McKay, the role was right but the timing was wrong.  Producer Philippe Rebboah told Tarts, “Britney read the script and she really liked it and really wanted to play the role of Mary.  She isn’t as scandalous in Europe as she is in the States, and I knew she would do a good job, but [people] were so against it and she was pressured. Then she ran into all the trouble with her family so we mutually decided the timing wasn’t right.”
