Britney Spears’ Dad: Permanent Conservator

In the ongoing saga of getting Britney Spears’ life back on track for good, her father Jamie Spears was named the permanent conservator of her affairs, according to a Los Angeles court ruling yesterday (October 28).

The “Gimme More” songstress’ court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham told press, “I’ve met several times with Britney and she requested that I not object to the permanent conservatorship.”

However, the “permanent” label isn’t necessarily set-in-stone.  Mental health lawyer Terry K. Wasserman told press, “People shouldn’t read too much into the word ‘permanent.’ In many cases, it’s just a formality to avoid having to renew a temporary status over and over again.  Ms. Spears can regain control of her life anytime – as long as her doctors feel she’s able to manage her own affairs.”

A source close to Britney agreed, stating, “This is by no means something that’s going to last forever. The conservatorship being made permanent in name is primarily to ensure increased time with her children, and provide support for her music and work goals.”
