Britney Spears’ Album Delayed, Buys A Parakeet

If you were hoping to have some new Britney Spears tunes to keep you company this fall, you’re about to be upset. Brit’s new album won’t see the light of day until at least 2008.

This news comes at such a critical time for Britney. The last year of her life has been marked with insanity, uncertainty, and screw-ups. The one thing she had going for her was a comeback. And now that looks to be slowly fading as well.

According to Britney’s rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, “I put her on hiatus. Brit’s album is pushed until ‘08. If she has no album, there’s no reason to do anything. ... Let’s go on hiatus until we have a campaign to do.”

And her label, Jive Records, is concerned that this could mean the singer’s career is essentially over. “I’m surprised the album wasn’t pushed back to 2009. Everything’s up in the air with the album right now.”

Britney was most recently spotted out with her cousin Allie on Thursday (June 21). The two went to Petco in Hollywood, where Britney snapped up a pet parakeet. Enjoy the pictures and stay tuned to the Gossip Girls, because this story is far from over.
