Birkhead Gets His DNA Sample Court Order

Late last week, Larry Birkhead left the courtroom smiling, stating that he believed “good things” were on the horizon. On Tuesday, his intuitions were proven to be correct, as he obtained an important victory in his fight to demonstrate his paternity of Anna Nicole Smith’s infant daughter, Dannielynn.

A Nassau, Bahamas judge ordered DNA samples from Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter, Dannielynn and Larry Birkhead for testing. Most insiders feel it to be common sense that Stern, who’s listed on the baby’s birth certificate, is not her biological father. Otherwise, it would have saved Howard and Anna Nicole a lot of legal hassles if he were to just submit a DNA test in the first place.

Instead, Stern and Anna, and then Stern alone, fought intensely to avoid any paternity testing.

Meanwhile, there were jubilant sentiments from the Birkhead camp.

“I feel great,” Birkhead said, adding, “it’s been a good day in court for me.” He left the courthouse energetically, pumping his fists up in the air, according to AP reports.

While Birkhead is excited over the recent proceedings, the fight is far from over. First of all, Stern can challenge the order, but most experts believe that this will only delay the inevitable for a month or so. Also, there’s still a custody battle going on with Anna Nicole’s estranged mother Virgie Arthur. Virgie is also trying to obtain custody of the baby, but declined to comment on Tuesday’s decision. She was most likely too busy selling courtroom seats on E-Bay.

As a result of this decision, if Stern complies with the ruling without an appeal, the results could come as soon as late this week. Once the results are in, the custody could be quickly settled for the biological father. This is by no means the end, but it is one of the most important rulings so far.
