Bernie Mac Passes Away
In a shocking and tragic turn of events, Bernie Mac died this morning (August 9th) in the midst of his recent hospitalization. He was 50 years old.
His publicist Danica Smith announced, “Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital.”
At this point there are no other details available regarding this saddening loss. However, it is clear that Mac’s passing will have a tremendous effect on his Hollywood peers, as well as his fans and admirers.
Bernie suffered from sarcoidosis, described as an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs. However, his condition has been in remission since 2005.
The pneumonia Mac was suffering from at the time of his death was not thought to have been related to his sarcoidosis.
His death comes on the heels of a statement Bernie made back in 2007, declaring his desire to retire soon. “I’m going to still do my producing, my films, but I want to enjoy my life a little bit. I missed a lot of things, you know. I was a street performer for two years. I went into clubs in 1977.”

Oh my gosh this is so freakin sad, i am deployed and i dont like hearing about good people die so suddenly. i pray for his family and fans and i hope he accomplished everything he wanted to he was a great comedian and will be missed by so many

This is sad, it’s always sad 2 hear some1 dies, i can’t imagine wt his family’s going thru, MAY HE REST IN PEACE

Always made me laugh in what show or mvie was in.he was gifted actor and funny guy.rest in peace bernie.

Bernie Mac was a great man was so funny one of my favorite actress my condolences and prayers goes out to his family and close friends. Ya’ll never be forgotten Bernie Mac May you Rest In Peace.
