Bad Night For Kanye West
It’s always kind of uncomfortable when a rich and famous celebrity decides to have a temper tantrum after not winning an award. And when Kanye West was denied all five of the awards he had been nominated for, he lost it.
The “Jesus Walks” rapper reportedly got an attitude about being shut out at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards last night. And it was no secret to everyone around him that Kanye was furious.
A source at the show told press that Kanye lost his cool backstage. “That’s two years in a row, man ... give a black man a chance,” said West, stomping around his entourage and directing his comments at a reporter. “I’m trying hard man, I have the ... No. 1 record, man.”
And he also griped about not having a mainstage performance, but rather doing his songs from one of the remote suites. A backstage spy reported that West became enraged when he saw the 2007 Justin Timberlake/Timbaland/Nelly Furtado finale.
“Kanye was watching the closing performance on a closed-circuit monitor, and he started getting upset. He started asking anyone who’d listen why he wasn’t allowed to perform on the main stage. ‘Why did I perform in just a suite?’ he was saying. ‘Justin’s my boy, but even he gets to perform in both a suite and on the main stage? Something’s wrong here.’ “
All in all, this was par for the course in Kanye’s world. He’s been known for storming stages when he gets dissed by awards shows. Maybe he should stop getting his hopes up.
