Friday, December 21, 2007 Ashlee Simpson Talks Career Revival
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything from Ashlee Simpson. Her “I Am Me’ album failed to live up to the expectations set forth by her debut “Autobiography” and after the whole Saturday Night Live incident, she’s been a bit gunshy. But the younger Simpson sister is set to take over the pop music world once again, and she began inching her way back into the limelight earlier this week with an appearance on MTV’s Total Request Live. Her new album is entitled “Bittersweet World” and is set to release in March of next year. And the new single “Outta My Head” and new video just hit airwaves. She told the folks at TRL, “I had been thinking about it, but then I guess today I just decided that I’m gonna call my album Bittersweet World.” It’s the title of one of the songs on my record. I was contemplating Color Outside the Lines for a while, but Bittersweet World is the one I feel. It’s kind of how I feel about the world right now.”
The “La La” singer continued, “Bittersweet World is definitely influenced by ’80s music. I wanted to do music with beats, I wanted to step outside the box. It’s where I am in my life. There’s parts of the record that are ’80s-influenced, because that’s just kind of where I’m at right now. I’m more laid-back, and I want to dance around, and I kind of laugh at things a lot, so you’ll hear that on the record.”
Enjoy the pictures from Ashlee’s visit to MTV’s TRL studios (December 18).
