Angelina Jolie “The UN Ambassador”
Angelina Jolie has always had to face skeptics who have considered her attempts to help the third world as nothing more than a celebrity stunt. As an official ambassador to the United Nations, Angelina Jolie speaks out to Newsweek about her difficult trips to African refugee camps.
Angelina has spent much time in Africa and certainly knows more than most. No one knows what Jolie’s motivations are, but one thing is clear… the emotionally charged woman brings attention to the starvation and war that has descended upon these people.
“The first two years I just cried constantly. I couldn’t really talk about the situation without being emotional. And I went through a period of just complete lack of hope.”
After speaking with a traumatized, shell-shocked seven-year-old, Angelina said, “I talked to him for like half an hour and just kind of looked at him for a long time before he touched me, and there was a little boy in there who was open to a kind sound.”
The toughened Angelina also claims that she travels alone and has no interest in other people’s reports that she is nothing more than a ‘celebrity tourist’.
“I don’t know if anybody saying that has spent the last six years of their life going to over 30 camps and really spending time with these people,” Jolie fired back.
Angelina is an official ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and has traveled to Cambodia, Pakistan and Africa. Despite her rap as being an attention seeker, there is no denying that Jolie has visited parts of the world that most don’t even take time to consider.

Not most people can take off work like she can. Not most people have money like her to fund her extra trips.
As far as the “rap” for attention seeker, a person cannot feel compassion for under-privileged and at the same time, not caring about another person’s feelings and their life by going after a married man. Granted he was having marital problems, but she didn’t even give them a chance to try and work things out. She saw what she wanted and went for it.
This is so hypocritical. I cannot believe she has any heart in her. I have no compassion for her nor any respect for her as a person.

I AM ALL FOR ANGELINA BECOMING AN AMBASSADOR FOR THE UNHC FOR REGUGEES, IF ANYONE IN HOLLYWOOD DESERVES IT MORE, THEN IT MOST CERTAINLY SHOULD BE ANGELINA. SHE GIVES OF HER TIME AND HER OWN WEALTH. AND, SHE HAS DONE THIS FOR 6 YEARS. ANGELINA JOLIE VERY MUCH DESERVES THIS TITLE. YES INDEED!! way to go, congrats, and love you angelina! i am so happy for you, and you very much deserve this title. you have worked so hard, and the whole world can see this. as far as any other idiot human being making negative comments about you, and your mission, well, they can continue to stick their head in the sand. please, just ignore them, because they truly are ignorant, and they know no better. funny! but we all need to remember all of the biblical stories, when everyone laughed at Noah, and Jesus, too. with alot of ugliness that i see in alot of people, i most certainly have to say, that there are alot of evil people out there truly working for the devil himself. what would they be saying if the world all of a sudden came to an end? just think about it! anyways, i truly respect the work that you are doing, angelina, and i truly admire you for it!

I’am so tired of all these women bringing up the Angelina factor in Brad and Jen divorce.
If Ms. Aniston felt that Brad was not honest with her or her marriage didn’t have major problems before Jolie came on the scene she wouldn’t have been kissing and hugging Brad for the cameras on that island before they gave out their separation statement.
Even before Brad, Angelina Jolie have been slam by “other people’s reports that she is nothing more than a ‘celebrity tourist’.”
I respect her commitment and determination to lobby for aid and justice for refugees. To be a voice for all those without a voice and forgotten by so many.
I’m very happy to see Angelina use her celebrity for others in a positive manner and for me she has been an inspiration and a motivator for me to become more involve.
Happily the charities that Jolie support are causes close to my heart and I use her suggestions as recommendations.
