Friday, April 27, 2007 Angelina Jolie Puts Money Where Her Mouth IsFew people these days truly back up what they say with action. Angelina Jolie is one of those few. Jolie has already adopted three children from various impoverished locales, and now she’s lobbying for even more action.
The 31-year-old “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” star spoke to a panel of press in Washington D.C. yesterday. She was speaking in regards to the launch of Global Action for Chrildren. The GAC raises money for developing countries’ orphan programs.
"I am here to simply ask you to think about orphaned children not as a burden but as a great opportunity,” said Jolie. “Their education is an investment in our future. ... They have had to work very, very hard to survive, but when they are given a chance, they grow strong, stronger than most. ... The Lost Boys of Sudan are a great example.” Such a good example in fact, that Jolie and Pitt donated $100,000 to a former Lost Boy’s clinic in Sudan. Jolie and Pitt are staunch advocates for humanitarian causes, and have spoken out on issues including the genocide in Darfur and rebuilding efforts in New Orleans. Last year, they donated $1 million to GAC. The talks went well and it would appear that the press conference is the first in a long line of steps to change the world for the benefit of orphans in poor countries. The Brangelina team keeps making the Earth a better place to live. Well done! Bookmark this Story | Share with a Friend

COMMENTS My God. What’s wrong with her? She looks positively horrific. This is not normal grief. Something is seriously wrong. Remember, the camera adds ten pounds. Posted by on 04/29 at 02:19 AM
