Monday, April 07, 2008 American Idol’s ‘Idol Gives Back’ Rocks Hollywood
It’s been a staple in American popular culture ever since the first season when Kelly Clarkson became the first “Idol.” And now American Idol is making a huge difference in the lives of the less fortunate… with a little help from their friends. Last night, the Kodak Theatre in Studio City, California was the place to be for great music, great-looking celebrities and a great cause. Reportedly six charities were benefittd by the ‘Idol Gives Back’ gig: The Children’s Defense Fund, The Global Fund, Make it Right, Malaria No More, Save the Children, and U.S. Programs and the Children’s Health Fund. With an event this size, there was more than enough star power to light up the night. Mariah Carey showed up to perform in a black tank top and hip hugging jeans. Also taking the stage was an acrobatic Fergie, who, at one point, pulled off a one-handed hand stand while singing. Idol alum Carrie Underwood returned to her roots in a gorgeous multi-chromatic evening gown, stopping to schmooze with Teri Hatcher, and thoroughly enjoying herself. And Brad Pitt, whose charity Make it Right was a beneficiary, even made an appearance, although he looked nervous as he lifted his cap to unveil a fade-style haircut. It must be for a movie role! The Idol Gives Back show will air this Wednesday, April 9th on FOX. To visit Gossip Girls’ “Idol Gives Back” photo gallery (April 6) - Click Here!
