Aly and AJ Michalka: Rising Young Stars

If you’re over 16 and not a parent, you may not know them. But for kids around the world, Aly and AJ Michalka are quite the big thing. And 2007 has been an exciting year for the two girls.

While Aly is best known for her role as Keely Teslow in the Disney series, Phil of the Future, she and her sister have been making waves in the music world as well. Their debut album Into the Rush went platinum in May, and their newly-released second album Insomniatic has been warmly received, with the single “Potential Breakup Song” becoming an instant fan favorite.

“It’s kind of surreal,” said AJ of the pair’s musical success. “We always thought we were just doing this for fun. We never thought it would turn into a career. But it’s really flattering when people recognize us and ask for our autographs and know our songs and want to talk to us.”

Continuing to tour the US, the sisters most recently played a show in West Palm Beach on Sunday (August 19), with popular child entertainer Corbin Bleu pulling opening duties.
