Jessica and Eva Highlight ABC’s Alma Awards

“Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria and Fantastic four star Jessica Alba were two of the more prominent attendees at ABC’s 2007 Alma Awards. Held on Friday night (June 1), the show will be aired this Tuesday, June 5, at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Organized by The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S, the awards show recognizes Latino artistic achievement in American music, film, and television.

Rosie O’Donnell Is Out… Who’s Next?

With her departure from The View coming three weeks early, Rosie O’Donnell has left a Rosie-shaped-hole in the cast roster at the hugely popular talk show.  As producers scramble to find temporary replacements for the outspoken co-host, the permanent replacement question has come up.  Who will replace Rosie?  There are several options.

There’s no denying that Rosie was the type of personality that had enough edge to bring in ratings.  Her water-cooler appeal will be tough to recreate.  But it’s possible, according to The View’s producers. 

Danielle Lloyd Trash Talks Big Brother

With the insurgence of reality TV over the last decade, many people have taken a fall (literally and physically) in front of the camera.  For Danielle Lloyd, enough is enough.

Lloyd has told press that she has no interest in watching Big Brother anymore.  Since her negative experience on Celebrity Big Brother, the former Miss England has a new take on reality TV.  “I won’t be watching BB this year, because I don’t agree with what they did to me and the others on Celebrity Big Brother,” she declares.

Vanessa Minnillo Rocks Miss Universe Pageant

It’s that time of year again… time for the hottest ladies from all over the world to converge on the Miss Universe Pageant.  For 2007, Miss Universe has a former pageant beauty to host.  Vanessa Minnillo, 1999 Miss Teen USA, took the stage with co-host Mario Lopez to see what this year had to offer.

Good news for America; Miss USA Rachel Smith is in the top 10, despite taking a spill on the runway.  If Smith takes the title, she’ll be the first Yankee to do so since Brook Lee, back in 1997.  She sported an Elvis jumpsuit and a guitar for the opening parade, giving a nod to her Tennessee roots.

Curtains Come Early For Rosie O’Donnell

As a follow-up to the Elisabeth Hasselbeck story we ran yesterday, there have been some developments in the relationship between The View and Rosie O’Donnell. The outspoken co-host was scheduled to depart from the show on June 22nd, but now she will not return “after the Memorial Day weekend,” according to ABC’s website.

Regarding the early departure, Brian Frons, ABC’s daytime television group president, said that the decision was all Rosie. “We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave,” Mr. Frons said. “Therefore we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to ‘The View’ and wish her well.”
