Regis Philbin Readies For Heart Surgery

Regis Philbin, co-host of “Live With Regis and Kelly,” announced on yesterday’s show that he is scheduled to undergo heart bypass surgery this week.

“Well, listen, I gotta tell you something. ... I had been feeling chest pains, you know, and, uh, shortness of breath and all those little symptoms that you hear about,” Philbin, 75, informed the show’s audience.

A Charitable American Idol

With such high ratings, Fox’s ‘American Idol’ keeps coming up with more and more shows.  In the latest news, the highly successful reality TV series that turns contestant’s musical careers from rags to riches is going to present a charity event called “Idol Gives Back”.

“The network will present a two-night charity special to benefit relief programs helping children in America and Africa. Idol Gives Back is in partnership with the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund (CPEF), and the special will air Tuesday, April 24 from 8-9 p.m., followed up by an expanded results show airing Wednesday, April 25 from 8 to 10 p.m.”

It may be a made-for-tv movie for A&E, but the mobster film Kings of South Beach’s cast and behind the scenes crew are star-studded. Plus, the movie’s true to life setting in South Beach offers possible views into the lives of celebrities who frequented the club which is at the center of the plot.

Critics have been quick to kick Kings in the ribs due to its debut on cable television.  How graphic and true to reality can a mobster movie on cable TV be?  However, critics have been equally as quick to point out that everyone involved in the project brings a big piece to the puzzle.

Nip/Tuck Roles For Madonna and Nicole Kidman

Acknowledging that she’s a big fan of the show, Madonna is set to join the cast of hit plastic surgery drama Nip/Tuck.

According to Hollywood.com, the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, revealed that he’s currently scripting a role for the pop megastar.

Murphy stated that the ideal situation would see Madonna play opposite her former co-star and friend, Rosie O’Donnell. Rosie has become a regular on the show after making headlines for a sex scene she filmed with Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon last season.
