Shortened “Southland Tales” Debuts At AFI Fest

On a rather quiet Friday night in Hollywood, the seemingly lone movie event took place at Arclight Cinemas for a showing of Southland Tales.

The film’s stars, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Dwayne Johnson and Cheri Oteri, showed up at the Hollywood spot for the AFI Fest screening presented by Audi.

It’s always an interesting occasion when Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag end up at the same place. And that’s exactly what happened last night, as the bickering stars from The Hills were among a celeb-filled crowd at the 2007 version of Us Weekly’s Hot Hollywood Party.

Speaking to press, Lauren shrugged off the ongoing feud with Heidi and her boyfriend Spencer Pratt, saying, “We just don’t talk. I don’t talk about her. People make more of it than it is.” True to her word, LC and Heidi kept their distance at the Opera nightclub party.

It’s finally here… Fashion Week in New York City.  And Parisian jewelry designer Van Cleef & Arpels made the most of the opening night with an event that got everyone talking.

The century-old designer (they were founded in 1906) used Fashion Week to unveil some of their one-of-a-kind pieces that were inspired by sketches from back in the day that they found in their archives.

Handling stardom at a young age can be a difficult task. Just ask Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. Meanwhile, Sarah Michelle Gellar stands out as an example of a child star who has managed her success with grace and professionalism.

Gellar, who grew up with a role on the popular TV series All My Children, claims that her busy Hollywood schedule actually steered her away from the troubles that plague so many of Tinseltown’s youngsters. “You don’t party when you’re on a TV show. You got to bed for 10 hours and you learn your lines,” she said.

John Travolta Fires Back at Gay Rights Activists

You may be used to seeing him in tough gangster roles in such films as Pulp Fiction, Swordfish, and Face/Off, but John Travolta is gender bending with the best of them in the silver screen revival of Hairspray.  But some gay rights activists have a problem with it.

Originally, a transvestite cult actor named Divine played Edna Turnblad in John Waters’ 1988 film.  And now that Travolta has reprised the role, prominent gay voices are speaking out, saying he has “no business playing an iconic gay role.”
