As the who’s who of Hollywood gathered at the Shrine Auditorium for the 59th annual Emmy Awards last night, one thing was made abundantly clear… bold colors were the way to go.

The red carpet was dazzled with celebs sporting all kinds of getups, and the powerful hues were an unapologetic departure from the usual subtlety of the event.

It’s Official: Ryan Seacrest To Host The Emmys

As anticipated, Ryan Seacrest was announced on Monday as the host for the upcoming 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

“Ryan Seacrest appeals to a broad audience, including the highly desirable young adult demographic, so he should serve as a magnet for attracting a diverse array of viewers to our Emmy telecast,” said Dick Askin, chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which is responsible for overseeing the event.

American Idol Judges Criticized For Cruelty

Fans from around the world have been complaining that the judges on American Idol are meaner this season, and some suggest that they have gone too far.  Tell this to Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, or Randy Jackson, and you will get a resounding “no!”.  All of the judges feel that things are business as usual.

Randy Jackson attended the Television Critics Association press event on Saturday and was quoted as saying, “it’s no different than it ever was, and it’s what we do”.

Jackson went even further on to criticize the talent of some contestants: “we’re amazed at the people who show up that are that bad”.
