Earlier this week he was involved in a serious car accident that landed him in the hospital.  And earlier today, Morgan Freeman was finally released to go home.

The “Million Dollar Baby” actor was driving in Mississippi’s Tallahatchie county late Sunday afternoon when he flipped his car over, landing in a ditch.

It seems as if Morgan Freeman is having a run of bad luck lately. Days after the Academy Award-winning actor was involved a potentially life threatening car accident, his business partner announced that Freeman and his wife Myrna Colley-Lee are calling it quits after 24 years of marriage.

The couples’ attorney Bill Luckett confirms the rumors, stating that the pair “are involved in a divorce action.” He adds “for legal and practical purposes, [Freeman and Colley-Lee] have been separated since December of 2007.”

Following his involvement in a serious car accident on Sunday night, Morgan Freeman is slowly but surely recovering after undergoing surgery to reconnect nerves and repair damage in his left hand.

As previously reported by Gossip Girls, the 71-year-old Academy Award-winning actor was listed in serious condition after his car careened off of the highway and overturned twice before landing upright in a ditch.

In what’s an unexpected and unfortunate occurrence, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident in Mississippi on Sunday night (August 3).

According to breaking press reports, “The Dark Knight” star was said to be traveling with an unnamed female passenger just north of the small town of Ruleville at around 11.30pm local time when the crash occurred - with no other vehicles involved besides his own.
